About Us
For many years, I tried to practice yoga at home. I found it confusing and I just couldn’t stick to it. One day in 2017, I was doing yoga and everything changed. You know how when you start linking your breath to your movement? It seems like your whole practice opens up in front of you and you fall in love. That was me.
I very quickly knew I wanted to start teaching yoga after this. At the time I was a wedding planner who was very anxious and overwhelmed. It was like my whole way of being shifted and I wanted to share that experience with others. It wasn’t until 2023 that I became a register yoga teacher with the loveliest teachers guiding me. I began teaching the week following my “graduation”. It was scary but I knew if I waited, the fear would grow.
During my final weeks before becoming a yoga teacher, I began looking for spaces for a yoga studio. One place in particular caught my eye, but I knew the timing wasn’t right, so I let the idea go for a little while. Looking ahead almost a year later, the same space was on the market once more. Like I do with everything, I took it as a sign that it was time to open my studio.
While this space was already taken, there was an old yoga studio in the same plaza that the owner really wanted to keep a yoga studio. In the words of the realtor "if you want it, it’s yours.” And that is how The Yoga Loft YGK came to be.
For me, opening a studio is about creating community. It’s offering a place of ease and solace. The Yoga Loft is here for everyone, no matter where you are in your practice - in the stages where it isn’t clicking and when your way of being has changed.
